A park, a holiday, and a guitar

Just a few tidbits from the last few days...

The weather here has been absolutely glorious lately.  Today's the coolest that it's been, with some clouds and 70 degrees!  I've started working slowly on scrubbing the couple-years' worth of grime off of the windows while this literally record-setting weather lasts...in the summer it's too hot to do that, and in the winter...well... So this timing is perfect. :)

We've been taking advantage of the nice days, for sure--going for walks here and there, playing in the backyard, keeping windows open.  Last Wednesday, K's mama called me to join her at a park near them.  They live roughly a mile from us, so I decided to enjoy the sun a bit more and walk the distance with Munch in her stroller.  What a perfect morning that excursion made for us!  Munch had a blast on the playground, running up and down a couple of the ramps, wandering the edges of the fenced area, going down a slide, and watching SO many little kids her age all running around.

Saturday of course was St. Patrick's Day.  Last year I had bought a little 'first' bib to mark the day...This year K's mama happened to loan me some 2T stuff that K is still too small for, and a dress among that collection was *perfect* for the day.  We didn't get to participate in the various city celebrations...we had play practice that morning...but Happy St. Patrick's Day all the same! :)  We were definitely the most green family at practice.

 This year St. Paddy's...
That ugly paint can is our door stop, both for the fridge and the back door! :)

Last year.  How much she's changed!!  I love these comparison pictures. :D

As for the guitar...one of the guys Daddy knows in the band at church is selling his old guitar.  We don't have the budget to purchase it straight up, so Daddy's been putting a little into an envelope each week, and while he does this, the guitar's owner has been very gracious to let Daddy enjoy it.  So he's been fiddling around with it whenever he gets the chance, and thoroughly enjoying himself as he basically teaches himself where all the various notes are.  Just this morning he was able to pick out Amazing Grace on multiple strings...having had music so deeply ingrained in him for so much of his life doubtless helps with his quick learning... *I* certainly wouldn't have figured all that out on my own!  Munch is enjoying this new fun as well, though it'll be some time before she gets to try to play all by herself... :)  Guess she'll have to stick with her inflatable guitar that came with some potty training tools.

Wow! the weather sure is being nice to you. Last night there was a big long boom of thunder. Later your sister came in the door and asked if I'd seen what was going on outside. All I could see was a little fringe of snow - SNOW! - along the side of the walk. Later your Dad and I went for a walk. There was about an inch of slush on the road. What is the date??? We should be done with this!
Munch is looking so grown up in that dress, holding the doorknob and looking wisely at the camera. Very different from a year ago.

Wow! I saw a few people on fb posting about stuff like that. So weird. We've been having a string of record setting days, though we're due to cool off a little this weekend. The weathermen are already saying that the last time it was warm so early, we had a VERY hot summer...So we'll see what happens...
It's kinda crazy how big a difference there is between last year's and this year's photos...Last year she'd only just started learning to sit up.
